Where our ideas came from
As you can see we tried to film a video in video scene with photos coming to life. thsi was in our original storyboard. The idea of 'video in video' came from Cher Lloyd's 'Want U Back', I think the idea is different and you don't often see it in music videos. It creates a variation in our music video rather than the usual shots you'd see.
The scene which we planned was a scene where Ria our main artist throws pictures on the ground, our idea is to bring the pictures to life to show the memories they both shared.
However we changed our storyboard and in the end did not use this, despite filming and practising this. We didn't really think it fitted with our genre and it was associated with pop.

By using this in our music video, I was hoping to show the relationship past of the two artists with a range of pictures as it is more effective when it comes to life. Instead we opted for the photos but in a pictures frame and then as black and whote flashbacks. This worked as we had a short video of them at the same time as the photos were taken which creted a ncie 'memory feel'. This theme of memories is very conventional of the genre.
For example, in Nicki Minaj's 'Right Thru Me' she is wearing
lingerie

Beyonce's "Best thing I never had" again wearing lingerie in what looks like a bedroom, this creates voyeurism.
COSTUME FOR OUR MALETypically RnB male artist usually dress in casual wear in their videos, there is normally several changes that consist of basic wear such as white tee and plain or designer denim. In videos that include night life the artist nomally wear a slim fit suit with a pair of sunglasses.
Most artist wear varsity jacket and body-warmers.Location Research
We are thinking about using this location in the West End because we want to take advantage of the Christmas lights that have been put up to represent in our music video, the passing seasons. |
We are also thinking about using Pontoon Dock for the opening narrative scene as we believe it is a environment for couples.
We are going to using whitechapel park for parts of the ending narration as it has strong lighting and will be good for the lonley walking parts.
We used Whitechapel park as natural light was available and it worked really well with the artist and the lighting was very effective.
We decided that it wasn't really important to have a lavish bedroom and also it wasnt really possible. The bedroom we used we made it look like a older woman's house rather than a 18- year olds. We thought it was more effective to have it in a 'normal' bedroom to show the domestic side of the artists life and we thought this was effective when we did our research.
Potential Target Audience
Our target audience are people from ages of 16-24 , we have tried to explore people in that niche groups interest and what they could potentially be doing at different stages in their life. Those nearer to their 20s may be getting out a credit card for example.
They may enjoy a certain type of food for example fast food perhaps; and dress in a certain way, urban and those older smart and chic.
Creating a mood board for our chosen audience, would give us the correct ideas on what to add and to be aware in the process of making our music video, this will help us cater to our target audience.
